It wasn't so much the amount that mattered in the case, though. This certainly wasn't going to happen but eventually Slysoft did get a judgment against them in a different case and was fined $11,000USD. Slysoft themselves were then in a legal battle with the AACS-LA who took them to court, nothing came of the case and then tried to settle by asking them to voluntarily close their doors. Eventually, Slysoft bought the rights to AnyDVD and DVD Region from Elaborate Byte and Game Jackal from Jackal Consulting due to the company no longer being able to sell their product in Australia due to changes in copyright legislation that came into effect in the mid 2000's. The reason that they acquired this license is because Elaborate Bytes was based out of Germany, and due to copyright laws it made it impossible for them to continue operating there. Slysoft started by acquiring the license to sell the CloneCD software that Elaborate Bytes (now Elby) developed.
